New Patient 'Oral Health Assessment'

All patients at the practice begin at the same starting point - a new patient 'Oral Health Assessment'*. This enables us to build up a picture of the health of your mouth and, if required, advise treatment that is appropriate for you. It takes time to perform a thorough examination and so your initial 'Oral Health Assessment' at the practice will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

We will:
  • Firstly take the time to get to know you, and learn about your needs, wishes and concerns regarding your treatment.
  • Ask you questions about your general health so that we can treat you safely.
  • Examine the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, jaw joint and bite and check your mouth for signs of oral cancer.
  • Take X-rays and photographs using the latest digital technology to aid in our diagnosis
  • Discuss our findings with you
  • Explain the relevant treatment options, and the pros and cons of those options
  • Give you the opportunity to ask questions
  • Agree an appropriate treatment plan with you
  • Provide you with a written treatment plan and estimate of the anticipated cost.
  • Book any necessary treatment appointments if you wish to proceed

The fee for this is currently £85-00 for adults (and £35-00 for children), payable at the time of service. Once a treatment plan has been agreed, you can decide whether you wish to join our membership plan with the associated benefits it provides (our recommended option), or receive treatment on a pay-as-you-go basis. See here for more details.

You can trust us to be ethical, honest and fair so that you can make an informed decision about your treatment. We will only provide treatment that is in your best interests. We won't judge you, and you needn't feel embarrassed if you haven't been to the dentist for a while, or if you feel you've neglected your dental health. We really don't mind! We have seen it all before and we are here to help you.

For more complex or cosmetic cases, additional diagnostic appointments and detailed treatment planning by the dentist may be required so that a proper plan can be formulated. In this instance, any additional treatment planning fees will be discussed with you before you proceed further.

* [ Please note:  We do not perform any treatment at your Oral Health Assessment visit].
